Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Bleeding gums
  2. blurred vision
  3. chest pain
  4. chills
  5. confusion
  6. cough or hoarseness
  7. coughing up blood
  8. difficulty in swallowing
  9. dizziness
  10. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  11. fever
  12. headache
  13. increased menstrual flow or vaginal bleeding
  14. lower back or side pain
  15. nosebleeds
  16. painful or difficult urination
  17. paralysis
  18. pinpoint red spots on skin
  19. prolonged bleeding from cuts
  20. red or dark brown urine
  21. red or black, tarry stools
  22. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  23. sweating
  24. swollen glands
  25. trouble breathing
  26. unusual bleeding or bruising
  27. unusual tiredness or weakness

Less common

  1. Blue lips and fingernails
  2. coughing that sometimes produces a pink frothy sputum
  3. dark-colored urine
  4. fast heartbeat
  5. increased sweating
  6. light-colored stools
  7. no blood pressure or pulse
  8. pain, redness, or swelling in the arm or leg
  9. pale skin
  10. stomach pain
  11. stopping of the heart
  12. swelling in the legs and ankles
  13. unconsciousness
  14. vomiting
  15. yellow eyes or skin

Incidence not known

  1. Absent, missed, or irregular menstrual periods
  2. back or leg pains
  3. bloated stomach
  4. chest tightness
  5. clay-colored stools
  6. confusion
  7. fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  8. general body swelling
  9. hives, itching, rash
  10. indigestion
  11. light-colored stools
  12. loss of appetite
  13. nausea
  14. noisy breathing
  15. pain and fullness in the right upper abdomen or stomach
  16. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  17. reddening of the skin, especially around the ears
  18. sore throat
  19. swelling of the eyes, face, hands, ankles, feet, or lower legs
  20. unpleasant breath odor
  21. unusual lumps or masses
  22. vomiting of blood
  23. weight gain or loss

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  1. Indigestion
  2. passing of gas
  3. stomach fullness

Incidence not known

  1. Blue-green to black skin discoloration
  2. hair loss or thinning of the hair
  3. pain, redness, soreness, or sloughing of the skin at the injection site
  4. sores, welting, or blisters
