Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Chills
  2. fever
  3. pale skin
  4. sore throat
  5. unusual tiredness or weakness

Less common

  1. Burning, tingling, numbness, or pain in the hands, arms, feet, or legs
  2. muscle tenderness and weakness
  3. nausea
  4. severe stomach pain
  5. skin rash
  6. vomiting
  7. yellow eyes or skin

Incidence not known

  1. Blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  2. canker sores
  3. chest discomfort or pain
  4. chills
  5. convulsions
  6. dark urine
  7. decreased appetite
  8. difficulty with breathing
  9. difficulty with swallowing
  10. dizziness
  11. faintness
  12. fast, irregular, or pounding heartbeat
  13. fast, shallow breathing
  14. feeling of fullness
  15. general feeling of discomfort
  16. general tiredness and weakness
  17. hives or welts, itching
  18. itching, puffiness, or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  19. jerking of all extremities
  20. joint or muscle pain
  21. light-colored stools
  22. loss of bladder control
  23. muscle pain, spasms, stiffness, or cramping
  24. red skin lesions often with a purple center
  25. red, irritated eyes
  26. redness, soreness, or itching skin
  27. sensation of pins and needles
  28. sleepiness
  29. sores, ulcers, or white spots in the mouth or on the lips or tongue
  30. sores, welting or blisters
  31. stabbing pain
  32. sudden loss of consciousness
  33. swelling of the feet or lower legs
  34. tingling, burning, numbness, or pain in the hands, arms, feet, or legs
  35. tightness in the chest
  36. troubled with breathing
  37. unsteadiness or awkwardness

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

  1. Headache

Less common

  1. Coughing
  2. decreased appetite
  3. diarrhea
  4. dizziness
  5. mild stomach pain
  6. trouble sleeping

Incidence not known

  1. Blurred vision
  2. body fat redistribution or accumulation
  3. darkening of the skin and mucous membranes
  4. dry mouth
  5. flushed, dry skin
  6. fruit-like breath odor
  7. hair loss
  8. increased hunger
  9. increased thirst
  10. increased urination
  11. sweating
  12. swelling of the breasts or breast soreness in both females and males
  13. swollen, painful, or tender lymph glands in the neck, armpit, or groin
  14. thinning of the hair
  15. troubled breathing, unexplained
