Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Bloating or swelling of the face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet
  2. bloody nose
  3. chest pain or tightness
  4. chills
  5. cough
  6. decreased weight
  7. diarrhea
  8. difficult or labored breathing
  9. difficulty with swallowing
  10. fever
  11. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  12. hoarseness
  13. lower back or side pain
  14. painful or difficult urination
  15. rapid weight gain
  16. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips, tongue, or inside the mouth
  17. tingling of the hands or feet

Less common

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. bladder pain
  3. bleeding gums
  4. bloody urine
  5. blurred vision
  6. body aches or pain
  7. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  8. coughing up blood
  9. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  10. ear congestion
  11. fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  12. frequent urge to urinate
  13. headache
  14. increased fat deposits on the face, neck, and trunk
  15. increased thirst or urination
  16. irregular breathing
  17. loss of appetite
  18. loss of voice
  19. nausea
  20. nervousness
  21. nosebleeds
  22. pain, redness, or swelling in the arm or leg
  23. pale skin
  24. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  25. prolonged bleeding from cuts
  26. red or black, tarry stools
  27. red or dark brown urine
  28. sneezing
  29. sore throat
  30. slow heartbeat
  31. stomach ache
  32. stuffy or runny nose
  33. sweating
  34. unusual bleeding or bruising
  35. unusual tiredness or weakness
  36. vomiting

Rare

  1. Bloating
  2. change in mental status
  3. chest discomfort
  4. constipation
  5. dark or bloody urine
  6. difficulty speaking
  7. increased or decreased urination
  8. indigestion
  9. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  10. pains in the stomach, side, or abdomen, possibly radiating to the back
  11. seizures
  12. sudden weakness in the arms or legs
  13. swelling of the face, fingers, feet, or lower legs
  14. yellow eyes or skin

Incidence not known

  1. Agitation
  2. confusion
  3. decreased awareness or responsiveness
  4. depression
  5. dizziness
  6. hostility
  7. irritability
  8. muscle twitching
  9. severe sleepiness
  10. unusual drowsiness, dullness, or feeling of sluggishness

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Change in taste
  2. dry skin
  3. itching skin or rash
  4. lack or loss of strength
  5. loss of taste
  6. pain in the arms or legs
  7. trouble sleeping

Less common

  1. Back pain
  2. blistering, peeling, redness, or swelling of the palms, hands, or bottoms of the feet
  3. bumps on the skin
  4. burning, dry, or itching eyes
  5. difficulty in moving
  6. discoloration of the fingernails or toenails
  7. feeling of fullness
  8. flushing or redness of the skin
  9. jaw pain
  10. joint pain
  11. muscle cramps, spasms, or stiffness
  12. muscle or bone pain
  13. numbness, pain, tingling, or unusual sensations in the palms of the hands or bottoms of the feet
  14. passing of gas
  15. redness, pain, or swelling of the eye, eyelid, or inner lining of the eyelid
