Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Bleeding gums
  2. coughing up blood
  3. difficulty with breathing or swallowing
  4. dizziness
  5. headache
  6. increased menstrual flow or vaginal bleeding
  7. nosebleeds
  8. paralysis
  9. prolonged bleeding from cuts
  10. red or black, tarry stools
  11. red or dark brown urine
  12. shortness of breath

Less common

  1. Bruising
  2. chest discomfort
  3. collection of blood under the skin
  4. confusion
  5. continuing bleeding or oozing from the nose and/or mouth, or surgical wound
  6. convulsions (seizures)
  7. fever
  8. irritability
  9. lightheadedness
  10. lower back pain
  11. pain or burning while urinating
  12. swelling of the hands or feet
  13. tightness in the chest
  14. uncontrolled bleeding at the site of injection
  15. vomiting of blood or material that looks like coffee grounds
  16. wheezing

Rare

  1. Back pain
  2. burning, pricking, tickling, or tingling sensation
  3. chest pain
  4. chills
  5. cough
  6. decreased urine output
  7. dilated neck veins
  8. dizziness or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  9. extreme fatigue
  10. fainting
  11. fast or irregular heartbeat
  12. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  13. irregular breathing
  14. leg weakness
  15. problems with bowel or bladder function
  16. skin rash or hives
  17. sneezing
  18. sore throat
  19. sudden fainting
  20. swelling of the face, fingers, feet, genitals, mouth, or tongue
  21. thickening of the bronchial secretions
  22. troubled breathing
  23. weight gain

Incidence not known

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain
  2. deep, dark purple bruise
  3. hives or welts
  4. irregular heartbeat
  5. itching, pain, redness, or swelling
  6. large, flat, blue, or purplish patches in the skin
  7. nausea or vomiting
  8. nervousness
  9. numbness or tingling in the hands, feet, or lips
  10. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  11. redness of the skin
  12. skin rash
  13. unusual tiredness or weakness
  14. weakness or heaviness of the legs

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  1. Diarrhea
  2. irritation, pain, or redness at the place of injection
