Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Breast pain or tenderness
  2. headache, severe and throbbing
  3. heavy non-menstrual vaginal bleeding
  4. irregular menstrual periods
  5. nausea
  6. normal menstrual bleeding occurring earlier, possibly lasting longer than expected

Less common

  1. Longer or heavier menstrual periods
  2. unusual tiredness or weakness
  3. vomiting

Incidence not known

  1. Chills
  2. clay-colored stools
  3. dark urine
  4. difficulty with breathing
  5. dizziness
  6. fever
  7. headache
  8. itching
  9. loss of appetite
  10. pain in the chest, groin, or legs, especially the calves
  11. rash
  12. slurred speech
  13. stomach pain
  14. sudden loss of coordination
  15. sudden, severe weakness or numbness in the arm or leg
  16. unpleasant breath odor
  17. unusual tiredness or weakness
  18. vision changes
  19. vomiting of blood
  20. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  1. Crying
  2. decreased interest in sexual intercourse
  3. delusions of persecution, mistrust, suspiciousness, or combativeness
  4. false or unusual sense of well-being
  5. inability to have or keep an erection
  6. irritability
  7. loss in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
  8. mental depression
  9. quick to react or overreact emotionally
  10. rapidly changing moods
  11. weight gain

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
