Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor as soon as possible if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Burning, crawling, or tingling sensation of the skin
  2. swelling at the site of application
  3. worsening of eczema and itching

Rare

  1. Fever

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Abdominal pain and swelling
  2. blurring of vision
  3. convulsions (seizures)
  4. decreased awareness or responsiveness
  5. difficulty in breathing
  6. difficulty in passing urine
  7. dizziness, fainting, or lightheadedness
  8. drowsiness
  9. enlarged pupils
  10. excessive dryness of mouth
  11. extremely high fever or body temperature
  12. extremely low body temperature
  13. fast heartbeat
  14. increased or excessive unconscious or jerking movements
  15. incurable constipation
  16. irregular heartbeat
  17. unconsciousness
  18. vomiting
  19. weak pulse

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Burning and/or stinging at the site of application
  2. changes in taste
  3. dizziness
  4. drowsiness
  5. dryness and tightness of skin
  6. dryness of mouth and/or lips
  7. emotional changes
  8. headache
  9. thirst
  10. unusual tiredness or weakness

Less common

  1. Anxiety
  2. irritation, tingling, scaling, and cracking of skin
  3. nausea
