Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. bleeding or crusting sores on the lips
  3. blood in the urine or stools
  4. bruises or red spots on the skin
  5. chest pain
  6. chills
  7. confusion
  8. continuing thirst
  9. convulsions (seizures)
  10. cough or hoarseness
  11. disorientation
  12. drowsiness
  13. fainting
  14. fever with or without chills
  15. fluid retention
  16. general feeling of illness
  17. heartburn or indigestion
  18. increased blood pressure
  19. increased heart rate
  20. increased weight gain
  21. irregular heartbeat
  22. itching of the skin
  23. large, flat, blue or purplish patches on the skin
  24. lightheadedness or dizziness
  25. lower back or side pain
  26. mental depression
  27. muscle cramps
  28. nausea
  29. painful or difficult urination
  30. pounding heartbeat
  31. psychotic reaction
  32. rectal bleeding
  33. seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there
  34. severe headache
  35. severe liver reactions
  36. severe stomach pain, cramping, or burning
  37. shortness of breath, troubled breathing, tightness in the chest, or wheezing
  38. skin rash
  39. sore throat
  40. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  41. stiff neck or back
  42. sudden decrease in the amount of urine
  43. swelling or tenderness in the upper stomach
  44. swelling of the face, fingers, feet, or lower legs
  45. unusual bleeding or bruising
  46. unusual tiredness or weakness
  47. vomiting of material that looks like coffee grounds
  48. yellow eyes or skin

Rare

  1. Changes in facial skin color
  2. fast or irregular breathing
  3. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

  1. Diarrhea
  2. fever
  3. slow heartbeat
  4. stomach pain
  5. trembling or shaking

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Gas

Less common

  1. Abnormal vision
  2. acne
  3. change in sense of taste
  4. decreased appetite
  5. decrease in sexual ability
  6. dry mouth
  7. irritability or nervousness
  8. loss of hair
  9. muscle pain
  10. tingling, burning, or prickling sensations
  11. trouble with swallowing
  12. vaginal bleeding
