Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common

  1. Blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  2. blurred vision
  3. chills
  4. cough
  5. diarrhea
  6. dry mouth
  7. flushed, dry skin
  8. fruit-like breath odor
  9. increased hunger
  10. increased thirst
  11. increased urination
  12. itching
  13. joint or muscle pain
  14. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  15. red irritated eyes
  16. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  17. skin rash
  18. sore throat
  19. sores, ulcers, or white spots in the mouth or on the lips
  20. sweating
  21. trouble breathing
  22. unexplained weight loss
  23. unusual tiredness or weakness

Rare

  1. Belching
  2. black, tarry stools
  3. bloating
  4. constipation
  5. dark urine
  6. decreased appetite
  7. difficulty with moving
  8. dizziness
  9. excess air or gas in the stomach or bowels
  10. fast heartbeat
  11. feeling of fullness
  12. fever
  13. headache
  14. heartburn
  15. indigestion
  16. lack or loss of strength
  17. light-colored stools
  18. loss of appetite
  19. muscle aching or cramping
  20. nausea
  21. painful or difficult urination
  22. passing gas
  23. stomach pain or tenderness
  24. swelling of the feet or lower legs
  25. swollen glands
  26. swollen joints
  27. unpleasant breath odor
  28. unusual bleeding or bruising
  29. vomiting
  30. vomiting of blood
  31. yellow eyes or skin

Incidence not known

  1. Lower back pain
  2. muscle pain, spasms, or stiffness
  3. pain or burning while urinating
  4. sudden decrease in amount of urine
  5. swelling or puffiness of the face

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Stuffy or runny nose

Less common

  1. Gaining weight around your neck, upper back, breast, face, or waist
