Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. blood in the urine or stools
  3. cough or hoarseness accompanied by fever or chills
  4. diarrhea (continuing)
  5. difficulty with swallowing
  6. fever or chills
  7. heartburn
  8. lower back or side pain accompanied by fever or chills
  9. painful or difficult urination accompanied by fever or chills
  10. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  11. sores in the mouth and on the lips
  12. stomach pain (continuing)
  13. unusual bleeding or bruising
  14. unusual tiredness or weakness

Rare

  1. Joint pain
  2. pain at the injection site
  3. swelling of the feet or lower legs
  4. wheezing
  5. yellow eyes or skin

Incidence not known

  1. Abdominal or stomach cramps
  2. blisters
  3. body aches or pain
  4. chapped, red, or swollen lips
  5. confusion
  6. congestion
  7. convulsions
  8. cough
  9. difficulty with breathing
  10. difficulty with moving
  11. difficulty with swallowing
  12. dryness or soreness of the throat
  13. flushing or redness of the skin
  14. growth retardation
  15. irregular heartbeats
  16. muscle aching or cramping
  17. muscle cramps in the hands, arms, feet, legs, or face
  18. muscle pains or stiffness
  19. numbness and tingling around the mouth, fingertips, or feet
  20. runny nose
  21. scaling, redness, burning, pain, or other signs of inflammation of the lips
  22. shortness of breath
  23. swollen joints
  24. tender, swollen glands in the neck
  25. tremor
  26. unusually warm skin
  27. voice changes

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Darkening of the skin
  2. general feeling of discomfort or weakness
  3. nausea and vomiting
  4. skin rash or acne
  5. unusual feeling of dullness or sluggishness
