Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Bladder pain
  2. bloody or cloudy urine
  3. body aches or pain
  4. chills
  5. cough
  6. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  7. difficulty with breathing
  8. ear congestion
  9. fever
  10. frequent urge to urinate
  11. headache
  12. hoarseness
  13. loss of voice
  14. lower back or side pain
  15. nasal congestion
  16. runny nose
  17. sneezing
  18. sore throat
  19. unusual tiredness or weakness

Less common

  1. Bleeding, blistering, burning, coldness, discoloration of the skin, feeling of pressure, hives, infection, inflammation, itching, lumps, numbness, pain, rash, redness, scarring, soreness, stinging, swelling, tenderness, tingling, ulceration, or warmth at the injection site
  2. bloating or swelling of the face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet
  3. chest pain
  4. frequent urination
  5. pain in the arms, ankles, knees, or legs
  6. painful, red lumps under the skin, mostly on the legs
  7. rapid weight gain
  8. stomach pain
  9. tingling of the hands or feet
  10. tightness in the chest
  11. unusual weight gain or loss

Rare

  1. Blurred vision
  2. confusion
  3. coughing or spitting up blood
  4. diarrhea
  5. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  6. fainting
  7. feeling of warmth
  8. general feeling of discomfort, illness, or weakness
  9. itching, skin rash
  10. joint pain or swelling
  11. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or genitals
  12. loss of appetite
  13. muscle aches
  14. nausea
  15. night sweats
  16. redness of the face, neck, arms, and occasionally, upper chest
  17. sudden high fever or low-grade fever for months
  18. sweating
  19. swelling of the lymph glands
  20. weakness

Incidence not known

  1. Blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  2. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  3. red, irritated eyes
  4. red, scaling, or crusted skin
  5. sores, ulcers, or white spots in the mouth or on the lips

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Difficulty with moving
  2. muscle pain or stiffness

Less common

  1. Vomiting
