Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Bladder pain
  2. bleeding, blistering, burning, coldness, skin discoloration, feeling of pressure, hives, infection, inflammation, itching, lumps, numbness, pain, rash, redness, scarring, soreness, stinging, swelling, tenderness, tingling, ulceration, or warmth at the injection site
  3. bloody or cloudy urine
  4. body aches or pain
  5. chest pain or tightness
  6. chills
  7. cough
  8. cough producing mucus
  9. diarrhea
  10. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  11. difficulty with breathing or swallowing
  12. dizziness
  13. ear congestion
  14. fever
  15. frequent urge to urinate
  16. headache, severe and throbbing
  17. hives, skin rash
  18. itching, pain, redness, swelling, tenderness, or warmth of the skin
  19. joint pain
  20. loss of appetite
  21. lower back or side pain
  22. muscle aches and pains
  23. nausea
  24. pain or tenderness around the eyes and cheekbones
  25. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  26. sneezing
  27. sore throat
  28. stuffy or runny nose
  29. sweating
  30. swelling of the eyes, face, or inside of the nose
  31. trouble breathing
  32. unusual tiredness or weakness
  33. vomiting

Less common

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. blood in the urine or stools
  3. discouragement
  4. fast heartbeat
  5. feeling sad or empty
  6. hoarseness
  7. irritability
  8. loss of interest or pleasure
  9. painful or difficult urination
  10. pale skin
  11. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  12. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  13. tender, swollen glands in the neck
  14. trouble concentrating
  15. trouble sleeping
  16. unusual bleeding or bruising
  17. voice changes

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:
