Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor as soon as possible if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common or rare

  1. Bloody or dark urine
  2. chest pain
  3. fainting
  4. hallucinations (seeing or hearing things that are not there)
  5. mental depression or other mood changes
  6. ringing or buzzing in the ears
  7. skin rash or itching

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Blurred or double vision
  2. convulsions (seizures)
  3. muscle weakness (severe)
  4. shortness of breath or unusually slow or troubled breathing
  5. vomiting

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Confusion
  2. dizziness or lightheadedness
  3. drowsiness
  4. nausea
  5. unusual weakness, especially muscle weakness

Less common or rare

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain or discomfort
  2. clumsiness, unsteadiness, trembling, or other problems with muscle control
  3. constipation
  4. diarrhea
  5. difficult or painful urination or decrease in amount of urine
  6. false sense of well-being
  7. frequent urge to urinate or uncontrolled urination
  8. headache
  9. loss of appetite
  10. low blood pressure
  11. muscle or joint pain
  12. numbness or tingling in hands or feet
  13. pounding heartbeat
  14. sexual problems in males
  15. slurred speech or other speech problems
  16. stuffy nose
  17. swelling of ankles
  18. trouble in sleeping
  19. unexplained muscle stiffness
  20. unusual excitement
  21. unusual tiredness
  22. weight gain

After you stop using this medicine, it may still produce some side effects that need attention. During this period of time, check with your doctor immediately if you notice the following side effects:
