Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Cough
  2. difficulty with swallowing
  3. dizziness
  4. fast heartbeat
  5. fever
  6. hives or welts, itching, or rash
  7. hoarseness
  8. irritation
  9. joint pain, stiffness, or swelling
  10. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  11. redness of the skin
  12. swelling of the eyelids, face, lips, hands, or feet
  13. tightness in the chest
  14. troubled breathing or swallowing
  15. unusual tiredness or weakness

Less common

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain
  2. bloating
  3. blurred vision
  4. chills
  5. constipation
  6. dark urine
  7. dry mouth
  8. flushed, dry skin
  9. fruit-like breath odor
  10. increased hunger
  11. increased thirst
  12. increased urination
  13. indigestion
  14. loss of appetite
  15. nausea
  16. pains in the chest, groin, or legs, especially calves of the legs
  17. pains in the stomach, side, or abdomen, possibly radiating to the back
  18. seizures
  19. severe headaches of sudden onset
  20. sudden loss of coordination
  21. sudden onset of slurred speech
  22. sudden vision changes
  23. sweating
  24. unexplained weight loss
  25. vomiting
  26. yellow eyes or skin

Rare

  1. Blood in the urine or stools
  2. bruising
  3. confusion
  4. coughing or vomiting blood
  5. headache
  6. numbness or tingling in the face, arms, or legs
  7. persistent bleeding or oozing from puncture sites, mouth, or nose
  8. red streaks on the skin
  9. swelling, tenderness, or pain at the injection site
  10. trouble speaking, thinking, or walking

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

  1. Diarrhea
