Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Blindness
  2. bloody eye
  3. blurred vision
  4. eye or eyelid redness
  5. eye pain
  6. seeing flashes, sparks of light, or a veil or curtain
  7. seeing floating spots before the eyes
  8. vision changes

Less common

  1. Bleeding or pain at the injection site
  2. swelling of the eyelid

Rare

  1. Chest tightness
  2. fast heartbeat
  3. fever
  4. headache
  5. hives, itching, rash, or skin redness
  6. hoarseness
  7. irritation
  8. joint pain, stiffness, or swelling
  9. swelling of the eye, face, lips, hands, or feet
  10. trouble breathing or swallowing

Incidence not known

  1. Pain in the chest, groin, or legs, especially the calves
  2. severe, sudden headache
  3. slurred speech
  4. sudden loss of coordination
  5. sudden, severe weakness or numbness in the arm or leg

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  1. Feeling like something is in the eye
  2. watery eyes

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
