Whole Blood Donations

Your blood contains a mixture of several components, including red blood cells, platelets, white blood cells and plasma. During whole blood donation, donors typically donate a pint of the mixture. During automated donation/apherisis, the donor's blood is separated into components by an automated blood collection system.

Whole blood donations take 45 to 60 minutes. Because of this, we provide wireless Internet access, televisions and movies for the donor to watch during the donation.

Donors can donate whole blood every eight weeks.

To learn more about whole blood donations or to see if you are eligible, contact us at 904-953-6516 or mcfblooddonorcenter@mayo.edu.
