People with a sleep-related eating disorder have frequent episodes of compulsive binge eating while sleepwalking during the night. Sleep-related eating disorders are more common in women and typically first occur when people are in their 20s.
A sleep-related eating disorder can cause injury if you eat something toxic. It can also lead to weight gain, poor nutrition, poor diabetes control and depression. A sleep-related eating disorder may be linked to other sleep disorders.
