Mayo Clinic researchers are working to improve the diagnosis and treatment of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Specific efforts involve the study of the genetic causes of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, new diagnostic tests and treatments for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Mayo researchers have made important discoveries in the genetics of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, including the identification of five new hypertrophic cardiomyopathy-susceptibility genes.
