Diabetic Nephropathy

Research

Current research at Mayo Clinic in diabetic nephropathy includes:

  • Clinical trials to develop novel therapies
  • Development of genetic tests to assist in the diagnosis of diabetic nephropathy
  • Development of novel diagnostic tools for earlier diagnosis of diabetic nephropathy

Nephrologists from the Diabetic Nephropathy Clinic at Mayo Clinic in Minnesota have recently completed recruitment for a multi-center trial sponsored by the National Institutes of Health; the trial will evaluate the use of Pirefenidone in the treatment of diabetic nephropathy. New treatment trials for diabetic nephropathy are being developed and conducted.
