The most common signs and symptoms of diabetes are excessive thirst and frequent urination. Depending on the type of diabetes, you might also experience constant hunger, weight changes, flu-like symptoms, blurred vision, tingling in hands and feet, and recurring infections. Doctors at Mayo Clinic will examine you and talk with you about your symptoms.
For type 1 and type 2 diabetes, tests may include the glycated hemoglobin (A1C) test or the fasting blood sugar test. For gestational diabetes, you'll likely be given the glucose challenge test, a modified version of the oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT).
