Mayo Clinic physicians have been at the forefront of research into the underlying causes of Devic's disease. They are working to understand the prognosis of Devic's disease and new treatment options, including plasma exchange. Mayo researchers have developed the first specific test for Devic's disease, an antibody called NMO-IgG.
