Mayo Clinic in Arizona offers expert diagnostic services for the interpretation of skin biopsy specimens. Areas of special interest include melanoma, non-melanoma skin cancer, lymphoma and inflammatory dermatoses.
Services
Processing and original interpretation of skin biopsy specimens submitted in formalin
- Formalin jars are provided (phone 480-301-9853; email).
- A dermatopathology specimen form should be sent with the specimen.
- Courier service is available for specimen transport from the Phoenix and Tucson metro areas.
- Mayo Clinic directly bills contracted payers and government payers. (Please include photocopy of front and back of patient's insurance card.)
- Routine turnaround time is 48 hours. Special stains require an additional one to three days.
Slide consultation
- Expert consultation is available for previously prepared microscopic slides.
- A consultation request form and preliminary pathology report should be sent with the slides.
- A paraffin block may be sent with slides for performance of additional stains.
- A clinical history is appreciated.
- Mayo Clinic directly bills contracted payers and government payers. (Please include photocopy of front and back of patient's insurance card.)
- Client billing also is available.
- Routine turnaround time is 24 hours. Special stains require an additional one to three days.
