The Running Performance Program helps athletes of all levels run faster, farther and without pain.
Run faster and farther with Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine Center's Running Performance Program. The program, which is provided by experienced Mayo Clinic sports physical therapists, is specifically designed to reduce pain for injured runners and optimize performance for experienced runners by improving mechanics and technique.
After filling out a running-specific questionnaire about your goals, possible problems, and current exercise and training level, you will undergo a detailed assessment by an experienced sports physical therapist. The musculoskeletal evaluation includes a functional clinical assessment that focuses on your body's intrinsic requirements to be running at your best. Foot typing and shoe analysis is the next major component of the evaluation. Finally, a biomechanical review of your running mechanics is conducted, including digital video to identify any areas of concern and correction.
All of Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine Center's performance solution programs are developed with the most current research on injury prevention, treatment and performance solutions. In addition, the programs provide access to Mayo Clinic's leaders in regenerative medicine and a multidisciplinary physician team, including an orthopedics department ranked in the top two and a physical medicine and rehabilitation department ranked in the top five by U.S. News & World Report. Beginning in 2014, performance programs, which will include running, general fitness, strength and conditioning, nutrition, golf, hockey, and throwing, will be available in Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine Center's new state-of-the-art facility.
