Strength, speed, balance, flexibility: Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine Center's Hockey Performance Program helps hockey players of all levels achieve optimal performance, whatever their individual goals may be. Program features are designed to optimize performance and reduce risk of injury for the hockey athlete and are provided by experienced Mayo Clinic sports physical therapists.
Hockey Performance program features include:
- Comprehensive 60-minute physical assessment of strength, flexibility, core stability, power, balance, nutrition and mental preparedness.
- Identification and prioritization of opportunities for performance improvements.
- Personalized therapy exercise program based on exam findings. Includes education on proper exercise form, technique and sequence.
- Specific training recommendations tailored to individual fitness needs, goals and position on the ice.
All of Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine Center's performance solution programs are developed with the most current research on injury prevention, treatment and performance solutions. In addition, the programs provide access to Mayo Clinic's leaders in regenerative medicine and a multidisciplinary physician team, including an orthopedics department ranked in the top two and a physical medicine and rehabilitation department ranked in the top five by U.S. News & World Report. Beginning in 2014, performance programs, which will include hockey, general fitness, strength and conditioning, nutrition, golf, running, and throwing, will be available in Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine Center's new state-of-the-art facility.
