This study aims to decode finger movements from an high-count microelectrode array implanted into the upper limb peripheral nerves of trans-radial and trans-humeral amputees. It also aims to provide sensory feedback to a phantom limb by direct micro stimulation of peripheral nerves via the same microelectrode array. Furthermore, the study will investigate basic physiology of human peripheral nerves using high-count microelectrode arrays implanted into peripheral nerves of patients with trans-radial or trans-humeral amputations. Finally, the study will determine the minimum level of micro stimulation needed to evoke sensory percepts for each electrode in the microelectrode array.
