Cochlear Implant Program
The Cochlear Implant Program at Mayo Clinic in Florida is dedicated to providing quality care to patients with cochlear implants. The Mayo philosophy, "The needs of the patient come first," drives the experienced, multidisciplinary team of professionals who provide this specialized service.
Potential candidates for cochlear implants participate in extensive evaluations. Together with their families, the candidates receive information, education and guidance regarding their hearing loss.
The cochlear implant team has experience with all of the FDA-approved cochlear implant systems: Cochlear Corporation's Nucleus devices, Advanced Bionics Corporation's Clarion devices and Med-El Corporation devices. The team also is involved in several FDA studies concerning the latest advancements in cochlear implants.
Surgical implantation is done at the Mayo Clinic hospital on the Jacksonville campus, which is equipped with technology for advanced medical and surgical procedures.
The cochlear implant team is committed to the long-term support of patients and their families, from the initial fitting and programming of the device, through rehabilitation, to ongoing management to help patients get the best performance from the device.
Children who are cochlear-implant candidates are evaluated at Nemours Children's Clinic in Jacksonville, Fla.
