The surgical part of the implant procedure is typically performed by surgeons in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. The treatment team also includes staff from Dental Specialties: a periodontist who specializes in treating the structures that support the teeth, such as bones and gums; and prosthodontists who fashion and fit the artificial replacement teeth.
