Cystectomy

Overview

Mayo Clinic surgeons have extensive experience performing cystectomy, a complex urologic surgical procedure for treating bladder cancer. Each year, more than 150 cystectomies are performed across Mayo Clinic's three locations in Arizona, Florida and Minnesota. Mayo surgeons are skilled in partial or complete (radical) cystectomy procedures, and are leaders in conducting a variety of urinary diversion and reconstruction surgery options following radical cystectomy.

Mayo surgeons consult with each patient to determine the most appropriate surgical approach for his or her needs. In addition, our surgeons' extensive experience performing cystectomies means they are highly skilled at preserving urinary function whenever possible and providing each patient with the best possible quality of life following surgery.
