Investing in Innovation
Joseph and Jeanne Sullivan   Joseph and Jeanne Sullivan

Mr. and Mrs. Sullivan take a hands-on approach to their business and their philanthropy. Building on a successful career in agribusiness, they extend a generous outreach across the United States and internationally. Issues of justice and human rights represent a key focus of their support. The Sullivans provide leadership support for cardiovascular research. They help fund young investigators and enable established researchers, clinicians and surgeons to pursue innovative new fields of inquiry.

Lawrence Thompson   Lawrence Thompson

Mr. Thompson is chairman and chief executive officer of EP Griffin Pharma Group. This international biotechnology and pharmaceutical company provides the highest level of care and products to people who develop asthma-related conditions. The company’s innovations include Epoetin Omega, which treats asthma-associated illnesses. Mr. Thompson provides leadership support to Mayo's programs in cardiovascular research.

Chip Davis   Chip Davis

Mr. Davis, Grammy Award-winning composer and musician, is one of the most successful entrepreneurs in music today. As creator of Mannheim Steamroller, he has sold more than 36 million albums worldwide. Mr. Davis brought the gift of music to Mayo by developing sound systems for operating and patient rooms. A special recording mixes nature sounds and Mr. Davis' music. This experience reduces anxiety and the confined feeling of a hospital room.

Jane and Lloyd Lovitt   Jane and Lloyd Lovitt

Mr. Lovitt, a naval officer in World War II, oversaw the testing and construction of the Higgins landing boats that were used on D-Day and in the Pacific Theater. After the war, he established a successful real estate development company in his native Memphis. He died of a heart attack in 1999. To honor their 39 years of marriage and her husband's ideals, Mrs. Lovitt supports Mayo's research in cardiovascular disease. A Memphis native and graduate of Vanderbilt University, she is a dedicated patient and member of The Mayo Legacy.
