Fine Art
Must-see exhibitions are regularly on display at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts and Walker Art Center. Built in polished aluminum, the Weisman Art Museum is perhaps the most stunning and talked about building in the Twin Cities.
Theatre
Outside Broadway, the Twin Cities contain more theatrical companies than any other American city, including the critically acclaimed Guthrie Theater and Jungle Theatre.
Music, Dance and Performance
Equally ambitious in the other performing arts, "the Cities" are home to one of the country's finest orchestras and several talented dance troupes. Venues like the Target Center and Orpheum Theatre are regular stops for a steady stream of major touring rock concerts and other shows. St. Paul's Fitzgerald Theatre plays host to "A Prairie Home Companion" with Garrison Keillor.
Shopping
The world's first and largest shopping malls, Southdale and Mall of America, respectively, are located in the Twin Cities. The Nicollet Mall in Minneapolis is the city's main shopping artery, although the Uptown shopping district and downtown St. Paul offer stiff competition.
Cuisine
The Twin Cities offer a restaurant for nearly every taste and pocketbook, and can be as fun to explore as any of the area's sights.
Natural Beauty
Some of the state's most beguiling charms lie in the rural towns of the Root River Valley and "Historic Bluff Country." More small town delights are clustered around Lake Pepin.
