Primary care is a method of health care that takes into consideration a whole person rather than individual organs or systems. It involves a team approach that includes physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and nurses. These primary care practitioners offer a range of services, including:
Children who require specialty care can access appointments with over a hundred pediatric and adolescent physician specialists, as well as with physicians in Mayo Clinic's medical and surgical specialty departments. They also have access to Mayo Clinic's comprehensive laboratory testing and imaging (radiology) procedures. If additional consultations are needed, our electronic medical record system allows us to share your care needs with other Mayo colleagues, dramatically speeding the referral process.
Your care team will bring all these tools to bear as your needs dictate — we are dedicated to providing medical service of the highest quality for our young patients in a compassionate, family-centered environment.
