The Mayo Clinic Cancer Prevention Registry is the foundation of the clinic's multispecialty approach to colon cancer prevention. The registry identifies and sends educational materials to people at high risk of colorectal cancer based on their personal and family histories. High-risk people are also invited to make appointments for consultations, screening or diagnostic testing, polyp removal, and genetic counseling when appropriate. Those interested in participating in clinical trials have access to a number of Mayo studies evaluating new screening methods and medications for the prevention of colon cancer.
