Mayo Clinic researchers are committed to improving diagnosis and treatment of cirrhosis of the liver. Mayo researchers were among the first to identify nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and primary schlerosing cholangitis. Mayo researchers are also making significant contributions to understanding the causes of liver cirrhosis and developing new treatments.
Other Mayo studies focus on relief from pain and fatigue for people with cirrhosis of the liver, markers for autoimmune liver disease, and improved treatments for portal hypertension (blocked blood vessels in the liver).
