The consultant is a psychiatrist specialized in treatment of addiction who coordinates all patient care and the treatment programs. He or she supervises the patient's medical assessment at admission and is responsible for treatment.
The licensed alcohol and drug counselor provides structured, topic-focused therapy and facilitates group therapy. The counselor also provides individual, couple and family counseling.
The resident physician is receiving specialty training in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine. He or she is directly responsible for the medical supervision of patients. This physician gathers information for a medical psychiatric history and orders medications, treatments and tests necessary for physical evaluations. The resident physician provides individual and family counseling.
The social worker meets with patients to assist in developing plans for family involvement. The social worker participates with the treatment team to coordinate needed services.
