Chemical Dependency

Overview

Chemical dependency is treated at the Generose Building, on the Saint Marys Hospital campus in Rochester, Minn.

Mayo Clinic offers chemical dependency treatment to adults and adolescents who abuse or are addicted to alcohol, prescription medications or illegal drugs. Mayo's continuum of addiction treatment care includes intensive inpatient and outpatient treatment programs, followed by individualized continuing care programs to maintain recovery. Length of treatment is based on each patient's needs.

In addition to treating people's chemical dependency, Mayo has special expertise helping them address any coexisting mental health conditions, such as depression or bipolar disorder. Mayo focuses on treating the whole person.

The highly trained psychiatrists and therapists in Addiction Services have many years of experience in helping people overcome chemical dependency. Mayo maintains a ratio of one staff therapist for every four patients to ensure that patients receive the attention needed to accomplish their goals.
