Mayo Welcomes New Staff

Neurology
Dr. Jay Van Gerpen has joined the Department of Neurology from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans. Van Gerpen earned his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tenn. He completed an internship in internal medicine and a neurology residency at the University of Virginia Health Sciences Center in Charlottesville, Va., and fellowships in advanced clinical neurology and peripheral nerve disorders at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, and in movement disorders and electromyography at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. Van Gerpen is board certified in neurology, clinical neurophysiology and electrodiagnostic medicine.

Cardiovascular Services
Dr. Steven Ung has joined the Department of Cardiovascular Services from Mayo Clinic Cardiovascular Division's regional cardiology practice at Franciscan Skemp Medical Center in La Crosse, Wis. Ung earned a medical degree from the University of California San Diego School of Medicine. He completed an internship and a residency in internal medicine at the University of California Medical Center in San Diego and a cardiology fellowship at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, Calif. He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and adult transthoracic plus stress echocardiography.
