Trees and flowers aren't the only things blooming this spring at Mayo Clinic! Construction on the new hospital has blossomed over the past several months, and the progress is clearly visible. The entrance to the Mayo Building was closed in early February as the building's façade was removed and work intensified several stories above. The building is now topped out with 100 percent of steel in place, and the concrete for all of the floors has been poured. The six-story nursing tower also is getting closer to reaching its final height — 50 percent of its steel bolted in. Crews have been working almost around the clock, and construction for the 214-bed facility is on schedule for a spring 2008 opening.
