Mayo Clinic has one of the largest cerebrovascular practices in the country, seeing more than 1,500 patients each year who have aneurysms, stroke and other cerebrovascular diseases. The Cerebrovascular and Neurology Critical Care Specialty Group in the Department of Neurology has led both national and international research studies about treatment of aneurysms. Most patients are first evaluated as outpatients, usually by a specialist in internal medicine or a neurologist, in order to get a thorough assessment of the whole patient before focusing on specific organ systems and problems.
