Around the turn of the 20th century, Dr. Charlie Mayo and Dr. Will Mayo organized medical professionals in a new way to better care for patients. They created a system that emphasized teamwork, specialization and taking the time to thoroughly investigate patient problems.
With this system, Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., has grown into one of the nation's largest private medical centers. The total square footage of the Mayo campus is almost three times larger than the Mall of America.
