| Daily Tasks |

Assists the surgeon in the operating room. Duties include moving and positioning patients, retracting tissue, exposing the operating field, clamping and tying blood vessels and tying sutures.

| Work Hours |
|
Day or evening shifts, Monday-Friday, with some on-call requirements. Overtime is mandatory.

| Education |
|
Graduate of an accredited certified surgical assistant program preferred, or a graduate of an accredited certified surgical technologist program with an associate degree in applied science. Must become certified as a surgical assistant through N.S.A.A. within 2.5 years.

| Qualifications |
|
Good knowledge of anatomy. Continuing education to keep up with the latest technologies and techniques.
