NURSE EDUCATION SPECIALIST

Daily Tasks
Responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating educational activities for nursing personnel to improve the knowledge and skills necessary for patient care. Assist the staff by acting as teachers, facilitators and resource persons.
Skills/Talents
Excellent verbal and written communication skills plus the ability to communicate effectively with staff. Leadership skills are essential as well as the ability to analyze problems and make appropriate decisions.
Work Setting
Primarily hospital nursing units.
Work Hours
Regular business hours.
Education
Graduate of an accredited (National League of Nursing Accrediting Commission and Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) baccalaureate nursing program and a master's degree in Nursing.
Qualifications
Must have a current RN license and a minimum of two years of nursing experience, demonstrated teaching/education skills, proficiency in verbal and written communication and the ability to work with others to accomplish goals through collaboration and coordination.
Recommended High School Classes
college prep, business, computer applications, food and nutrition, English composition, second language, health sciences, advanced sciences (biology and chemistry), anatomy/physiology, and psychology
