Psychiatric social workers provide analysis and coordinate patient discharge planning. They also gather required information for medical or legal issues and serve as a resource for other members in their department and institution.

|
Strong human relation skills are needed to interact with patients, family members, consultants, residents, hospital personnel, and community agencies. Must also have emotional diagnostic skills and the ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in written form.

Hospital or clinical setting.

| Work Hours |
|
Primarily day shifts, Monday - Friday, with some on-call requirements (including holidays and weekends).

| Education |
|
Must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, and a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from an accredited program.

| Qualifications |
|
Licensure as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) from the Minnesota Board of Social Work is required.
