Primary tasks include transcribing medical dictation about patient care, maintaining calendars and schedules, organizing and managing correspondence, scheduling trips, maintaining committee minutes and preparing documents for publication or presentation.

Knowledge of medical terminology, English usage, grammar, punctuation and style, word processing software, spreadsheets, formatting databases, and dictation/transcription equipment. Ability to work with numbers and statistics. Typing ability of 60 words per minute. Successful completion of Mayo Clinic's entry-level medical transcription test.
