CLINICAL NEUROPHYSIOLOGY TECHNICIAN
Daily Tasks
Records electrical activity of the brain and nervous system. Technologists review the patient history, prepare the patient for testing and gather data, which is later interpreted by a physician.
Skills/Talents
Communication skills, technical skills, analytical thinking skills, computer skills, ability to work independently as well as within a team atmosphere, self-motivated, flexible and human relations skills.
Work Setting
Patient testing areas within the Neurology Laboratory and Sleep Disorder Center.
Work Hours
Eight-hour shifts Monday-Friday, as well as some on-call hours during the evening and weekends.
Education
Associate of applied science or associate of science degree in neurophysiology or related science.
Qualifications
Successful completion of a registry examination within two years of employment. Must hold current certification in Basic Life Support.
