TINA
It is really neat knowing that you are part of a team that has done awesome things. Coming from a small town in Wisconsin, my parents tell people their daughter works at Mayo Clinic and people are impressed.
On a typical day I run a lot of reports, from simple five-minute reports to major projects. I run reports to see if productivity is up or down in terms of patient numbers at Mayo Clinic. I also do effort reports; such as what was charged to a certain cost center over a period of time. In addition, I do a lot of monthly productivity and expense reports for meetings with administrators and physician leadership. I often do multiple tasks in a day and usually have to solve a few unexpected problems. I have the day planned but then tasks change and my to-do list grows.
Flexibility is important in this role -- change seems to be the only constant thing. People skills are important in working with administrators, physicians and department leadership, all of whom have different personalities. Having some customer service experience is also important because you work as a team and have so many customers. You also learn many different technical programs and applications. If you are willing to learn, you will do well at Mayo.
This is a great place to work. You have lots of opportunities -- it's just a matter of taking advantage of them.
