To design and develop information systems and programs for ongoing support of the functions and missions of a given department or work area. Some of the languages used within Mayo Clinic are: C, C++, PowerBuilder, Java, JavaScript, Cobol, SQL, and Tandem Pathway.

|
Small, cohesive teams positioned in close proximity to the department they support. Employees typically work in an office atmosphere and spend portions of their day within the department setting they support.

| Work Hours |
|
Typically 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday-Friday; however, most are "exempt" positions, meaning you work until the job is done without overtime pay. There is an "on-call" requirement depending on the department being supported, which would require being available anytime, day or night.

| Education |
|
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
|
|
| Qualifications |
|
Must have knowledge of system design principles and computer programming. Must be responsible and accountable for your own activities. Must be able to interact with a variety of personnel at various levels within and outside Mayo Clinic.
