YOUTH APPRENTICESHIP

Mayo Clinic is currently piloting a Youth Apprenticeship Program for high school students. This program is designed to introduce high school students to the world of health care careers while developing work skills. The program is delivered through a partnership of Rochester Public Schools, Rochester Community and Technical College, and the state Department of Education.

Students receive salary and school credit for this 800-hour experience that involves school-base and work-site learning.

PROGRAM FACTS
What:
A for-pay, for-credit, hands-on learning experience consisting of 800 hours of school-base and work-site learning
Who:
Junior or senior currently enrolled in a medical careers or health occupation program
Why:
Provide students with career awareness opportunities, as well as a chance to develop new skills and self-esteem
When:
During the school year (approximately 10-15 hours per week) as well as during the summer months (approximately 30-40 hours per week)
