To refer a patient, contact the Cardiovascular Department Appointment Office at 800-471-1727 (toll-free) between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Central time, Monday through Friday. Mayo Clinic cardiologists are happy to discuss possible referrals with physicians and their staffs outside of Mayo Clinic.
After business hours, contact the Referring Physician Office at 800-533-1564 (toll-free).
For emergency referrals, hospital to hospital, by a physician, call the Emergency Department referral nurse at 507-255-2910.
Cardiologists generally can see most patients within two weeks after the appointment request, and often cardiologists can see patients within a week or less after the appointment request. Patients with urgent issues can usually be seen within 24 hours after their requests. In emergencies, patients are directly transferred to inpatient hospital care.
The Mayo Clinic Cardiovascular Outreach Program works closely with community physicians in Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin to provide quality care for patients with cardiovascular problems.
The Division of Cardiovascular Diseases includes more than 150 cardiologists and cardiac surgeons in 26 dedicated clinics and laboratories who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of more than 120 heart conditions and diseases. Many physicians in the division hold or have held leadership positions in leading professional medical organizations.
