The Interventional Cardiology Clinic and Mayo Clinic Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory physicians care for people who have coronary artery disease. Coronary artery disease is the most common heart disease; the blood vessels around the heart become narrow and hard with built-up plaques. In addition to diagnosing and treating heart and blood vessel conditions, our cardiologists have expertise in all current heart catheterization procedures, including angiography, angioplasty and stent placement.
The new Mayo Interventional Clinic provides rapid access for patients needing cardiac catheterization and improves continuity of care. Instead of having catheterization procedures and clinical services in separate units, the Interventional Clinic ensures comprehensive medical care from initial consultation to post procedure treatment. Patients are able to make return appointments with their preferred physicians to review procedures and schedule plans for follow-up.
At Mayo Clinic, the best medical care is tied closely to utilizing the latest scientific and technological advances to improve patient outcomes. The Interventional Cardiology Clinic allows patients to consult with specialty physicians on the latest advances relevant to their condition.
A dynamic research program keeps Mayo Clinic at the forefront of the latest advances in medicine. Current research covers the full range of diagnostic and treatment advances in coronary artery disease, from new medications to the genetics of the disease. Mayo Clinic patients regularly have the opportunity to participate in research studies, giving them access to the most recent and emerging information on their conditions.
In a recent satisfaction survey, Mayo Clinic patients seen in the cardiac catheterization labs gave Mayo Clinic very high marks. Ninety-eight percent felt doctors and nurses listened to their concerns carefully and met their needs and 99 percent indicated they would be inclined to recommend Mayo Clinic to their friends and families. We believe the new Interventional Clinic only improves cardiac catheterization patients' access to the highest quality of medical care, which is the hallmark of Mayo Clinic.
Patients may be referred to the Interventional Cardiology Clinic by their physician. Generally, next-day access is available for all patients. To schedule an appointment with Mayo Clinic's Interventional Clinic, call (507) 284-3994, Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Central Time.
