The Mayo Electrocardiography (ECG) Laboratory is active in all aspects of electrocardiography including the standard 12-lead ECG, vectorcardiography, signal-averaged ECG and 24-hour ambulatory monitoring for rhythm, ischemia and heart rate variability assessment. One of the first ECG laboratories in the world to develop computer-assisted ECG analysis starting in 1967, the laboratory currently analyzes more than 180,000 electrocardiograms and 5,000 ambulatory monitor recordings yearly. The ECG reference laboratory provides analysis service to 60 hospitals, clinics and corporate medical departments in 16 states.
