Mayo Cardiovascular Ultrasound Imaging and Hemodynamic Laboratory

The Mayo Cardiovascular Ultrasound Imaging and Hemodynamic Laboratory (Echo Lab) is the largest clinical, educational and research echocardiographic laboratory facility of its kind in the world. Out-patient and in-patient studies are performed routinely with state-of-the-art equipment. The laboratory was established in 1970 and has expanded to four sites throughout the Mayo Complex. More than 30,000 comprehensive patient examinations are performed yearly (over 100/day) using transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography. Echocardiography allows assessment of anatomy, function, hemodynamics, and blood flow noninvasively. Transthoracic, transesophageal, stress and dobutamine exercise and intraoperative echo are performed routinely to provide the best care for our patients.
